She Needs To Feel

that fire
The first sign of an attack were the bombardments, the large balls of fire that just appeared and bursted into flames. Alaynas mother was the first one to die, burned alive in their own home. Alaynas father went into a friendzy the first thing he did was release the horses and send the herds sailing across the plains. Though what he did not know was there were soldiers waiting for the stampeding horses right over that hill. Alayna had been taught to fight. The bombardments and arrows were coming from every direction, at first it scared her. But then without thinking Alayna took up arms and immediately went to search for her father. Little did she know she was the only one left. Arrows stuck out of her fathers back, everyone was either dead or dying.
Alayna awoke with a mighty start and a groan. The arrow wound in her shouldar was causing her great pain, she had only been asleep for about an hour. Her large black stallion was standing just a few feet from her, big intelligent eyes full of concern. Alayna had been running from the Romans for days, that last day she had spent in the Roman empire had not exactly been a pleasant one. One arrow had gotten stuck in her shouldar, that wasnt such a pleasant thing to get out. Another had grazed her side causing a large gash to form. Alayna had tried to clean the wound but to no avail. No matter what she did the wound just festered up and Alayna could do nothing about it. Numinor had several scrapes and scratches but they were nothing to render the stallion in any way. Alayna had no idea where she was going. All she knew was that she was no longer going to work for the Roman Empire. She wanted to be free.
Getting to her feet slowly Alayna groaned as the pain shot through her shouldar and her side. Though she did not have time to stay here long. Picking up her packs, occasionally dropping things, Alayna had Numinor saddled in seconds. The loss of blood made Alayna weak, but she knew she had to keep moving. Numinor had a spring in his step as Alayna mounted the large black stallion. Alayna asked him to lope and he did without even thinking. The bond between horse and rider was evident. Alayna wasnt jostled around near as much as normal for Numinor was picking his way through the woods carefully. Alayna pulled an arrow out of her quiver and strung it. There was someone in these woods, and Alayna didnt know if they could be trusted or not.
