Helena merrily skipped down the streets of Hadrain. She was trying to avoid the guards that she had with her. They didn't want to play nicely so she had choosen the game of tag. Of course they weren't actually playing with the little Princess so she was skipping rather than running. It didn't bother her much. She had a short attention span sometimes. Or rather her curious nature just took over and she didn't care anymore. All she cared about at this moment was getting away from them so that she could run free and be just like any normal kid. She seemed oblivious to the impending danger that they all might be in. The thought of loosing her parents had never crossed the young girl's mind. She thought they would be around forever and well that was how it should be with a child as young as her. She was supposed to be carefree.
Don't get her wrong though. She did sense the tension in the air. The tension that was thick enough to cut through with her father's sword or her mother's bow and arrows. She knew something was going on but she didn't exactly understand why it was happening. You had to give the young child some credit. She continued her skipping and giggling not knowing that her father was fast approaching her. Her guards of course close behind him. She started to hum a song that Merlin had taught her and slowed her pace down to just normal walking.

Arthur slid Excalibur into the sheath, located at his side, pushing open the doors. He looked up at the dull sky, the sun was hidden by dark clouds; a typical day. Exhaling, Arthur watched his breath start to fog up, nodding curtly to some of the servants that were scurrying to and fro. Saxon’s were located just outside of Hadrian’s Wall, the knights were busier than ever training to warriors, and many were in foreign countries, calling together Arthur’s allies. At this point, Arthur was quite unsure why such a small number of Saxon’s were here; perhaps they were planning to divert the attention and then attack. Arthur stopped abruptly, allowing his hand to slide down to his side, watching as a merry little girl walked in front of him; his own daughter, Helena. He looked around for her guards, who were a few feet behind her, talking amongst themselves.
Sighing softly, he walked up to his daughter, kneeling down in front of her. ”Helena, are you supposed to be out here?” Arthur asked, lifting her small hand, kissing it lightly. His eyes sparkled with happiness, he was glad to see his daughter, but deep down he was worried. The guards looked like they did not even care where Helena went, much less what could happen to her. Narrowing his brow, he nodded to the guards as they bowed before him. ”You may leave. I will be with her.” Arthur said, nodding his head in a different direction, watching as they scurried off. Arthur smiled, picking up Helena, pulling her small bodice close to his own. ”You will have new guards tomorrow, my sweetheart.” He murmured, strolling threw the busy streets of Hadrian.

Helena continued to hum on her little walk down the city streets. She was probably not suppose to be here but she was bored and had to be doing something. Her guards were neglecting her again. She really needed someone to play with if she was going to stay inside. She wandered if her Daddy would get her new guards if she asked. She shrugged it off until she was face to face with her father. He was kneeling down in front of her. The smile on her face grew even brighter until he asked her if she was supposed to be out there and then it moved into a more pout like face.
"I don't think so Daddy. I think Mommy told me not to but I was bored. And I wanted to play with uncle Bors children." She giggled as he kissed her hand. The guards came up to them and he dismissed them. She could tell that he was not happy with them. She could feel the utter tension that was around everyone. She was going to have to ask why there was so much tension and why he and mommy were worried so much about her wandering. They hadn't been early in the month so what had changed. She was four after all and where she understood some things other things she did not. Her parents nervous made her a little afraid cause she didn't think that they could get that way. They were the pillars of strength and everything and to see them worry was frightening for the young girl.
"Daddy why are you and mommy so worried? Why is everyone walking around all t...tense." She had trouble finding the next word but she was sure that that was what they were feeling. Merlin had taught her some things and answered her questions when she asked and everything and his last visit she had asked him what that weird feeling of scariness meant. She smiled again when he said she would have new guards. "Maybe they will play with me." She took her daddy's hand and pulled him along down the street. She had a short attention span today and everything was interesting to her.

Arthur couldn’t help but smile as his young daughter grinned brightly at him as he knelt in front of her. He chuckled softly as she spoke of ‘Uncle Bor’ The knights were like her aunt and uncles, and Aurelia seemed to be quite close to Helena, he didn’t mind though. He narrowed his brow, repeating her words inside his head, sighing softly. ”I believe she did, Helena.” Arthur said, turning his gaze back to the little girl, his eyes sparkling. ”Please, don’t venture around, unless you have responsible guards.” He said, casting her previous guards a glance, shaking his head in disgust.
He walked beside her in the street, listening as she asked why everybody was so tense. Stooping down, Arthur swept her up in his arms, and walked past all of the civilians, carrying her. ”I will have to show you, darling.” He said, making his way to the Wall, and up the steps. ”Promise me that you will not be scared, remember that I am here.” Arthur said, before turning her around so she could see the Saxon Encampment for herself. Arthur was at loss for words on how to explain something like that to a four year old.
It looked as if a few more Saxon’s had arrived during the night, maybe 600 strong now? The Saxon Camp was hustling and bustling, every one of them were running around. ”You see, those people are dangerous, we believe they want to hurt us. Until they go away, we will all be tense, anticipating their next move, so you see, that is why we ask that you don’t go running around.” Arthur said, turning around with her and walking back down the stairs. To lighten the mood, he decided to take her down to the stables and let her pet Andaleh.
As he entered the stables, Arthur nodded and allowed one of the servants to open the stall door; Andaleh stuck his head out, a piece of straw stuck out of the side of his mouth. ”Do you want to pet him, Helena?” Arthur asked, smiling at his daughter, waiting patiently for an reply.

Helena wondering what all of her father's friends were doing she hadn't seen very many of them lately. She nodded her head as her father reminded her that her mother did say not to run off and then he asked her not to venture around with out responsible guards. She wasn't sure what that would meant. "What does..."She sounded the word he had said to her out. "Responsible mean daddy?" Before she could get the whole sentence out her father was lifting her up.
She giggled as she clung to him as they walked towards the wall. She wasn't sure what he was going to show her but that didn't matter to the young girl at the moment. That was until he asked her to not be scared. Something made her get the tense feeling everyone else had. Or rather what she called in her won mind the weird almost scared but not scared feeling. He turned her around to see the encampment of an army. Her eyes went wide.
Her first reaction was to hold her father very tightly. She knew she was safe with her father. The people down below scared her though and she soon buried her head into her father shoulder and nodded. Now she got why her parents didn't want her to leave the castle and wander around. Those people were really scary. Where the young child might have been curious about the army beyond the wall, fear took over and made the curiousness go away all at once.
She looked back up when her father started to move away from the wall and she couldn't see the encampment of the bad people anymore. She said nothing completely shocked about what she had just seen.
As second later the happenings beyond the wall left her mind completely as she noticed her father's house sticking its head out to be pet. She nodded her head. This was something special. "Can I really daddy." she said excitedly.

Arthur quirked his brown as his daughter asked what responsible meant. How to explain it? He asked himself, contemplating whether or not to answer or not. "It means that they take their duty seriously. From what I've seen, they let you run around." Arthur said, casting her a sly grin, before kissing her cheek.
As they made their way up to the wall, he could feel the tension in the little girls body as she clung to him. He placed a hand on the back of Helena's head, stroking her soothingly as he pulled her closer to him. Arthur sighed softly as he turned away from the wall, and carried her down the steps. "It's ok, my pearl, your safe." He said, shifting to the other side. A few seconds later, Arthur was standing in front of Andaleh as the horse munched on some hay.
"Of course." Arthur said, stepping up to the horse so she could pet him. Lifting a hand, Arthur patted Andaleh's neck, gazing the horse over. That horse had been with him through thick and thin, Arthur didn't mind riding other horses, but he preferred Andaleh. The horse's ears flickered back forth as he chewed on the hay loudly, dipping his head to grab another snippet, before raising it back up once more.
The stud gave a soft nicker, tossing his mane up into the air; enjoying the attention. "Your Majesty, shall I tack him up?" Arthur turned around abruptly, looking at one of the stable hands as he rose back up from a low bow. "Not today." The stable hand bowed once more, before backing away. Arthur smiled at his daughter, leaning back over so that she could continue to pet the horse. Arthur enjoyed spending bonding time with Helena.
