Aurelia gave a soft sigh as she flipped the different pages of parchment. One of the officials had written, asking for her help on a matter – but it would require her to return back to Rome. She had been at Hadrian’s Wall for a few weeks now so she could help Arthur protect his people from the Saxons. Whenever she wasn’t with Arthur though, she was usually with Marina, or Livia. It was an time for her to catch up and better prepare herself for future news. Lifting a hand, Aurelia brushed her dark brown hair off of her shoulders, before placing the letters on a stone table located to her side. Standing up, Aurelia pushed past the thin curtain of fabric, grabbing her cloak, before emerging into her living quarters. Wrapping the dark blue cloak around her shoulders, Aurelia opened the wooden door, stepping out and closing it behind her.
Instead of heading to the council room, Aurelia found herself walking to the stables. Stopping only for a moment, Aurelia told Drako, her guard, that she would be with Marina, before continuing on. It only took, but a few minutes before Aurelia had arrived, watching as a young boy, only eight or nine, tacked her mare up. As soon as he had finished, she tossed him a silver coin, before sliding her foot into the stirrup and mounting. Aurelia gave the reins a gentle flick, guiding Calaini towards the training field, where numerous trainees were practicing archery and swordsmanship. The young lady took her time before finally pulled her horse up to Marina’s side, giving a slight smile. ”Marina? Ride with me? I need to talk to you.” Aurelia said, before glancing over at the other senior knight. He could handle group for a little bit while Marina was gone.
Once she had made sure Marina had mounted Alcarius, and was following her, Aurelia gave her mare a gentle pat. A few seconds later, Aurelia found herself heading towards an abandoned piece of field, free of trainees.

Marina had been out on the training field for a few hours now – stuck in the cold, snow, and mud. It was her job though, so she didn’t complain much. Most of the time, Marina enjoyed being outdoors, but today’s weather was nastier than usual, and now she just wanted to be inside the inn, sitting near the fireplace. So, Marina spent the first hour or so training a group of young boys in something that would get there blood pumping – hand to hand combat. After that, they made the transition over to fighting on horseback. It wasn’t as easy as it looked, and it was a required skill – so they had to learn to do it. Marina used Alcarius for the little training session, seeing how he was used to it, and Marina didn’t really have to do anything.
Alcarius and Marina had been together for many years – they both understood each other, which was quite helpful for Marina. Instead of going against one of the trainee’s, she called Gawain over – so they could give them a proper example. After that, Marina sent Gawain on his way, before allowing the boys to practice. Marina allowed that go on for a good hour, watching as pairs went up against each other, before giving constructive criticism. Once that was done and over with, they all dismounted their horses, before starting on with the actual swordsmanship. Marina watched their footwork as they all fought each other. Whenever one would fall, they sent mud flying everywhere, so after an hour so – everyone, including Marina, had been splattered with mud at least once.
And that was how Aurelia found Marina – supervising the boys, splattered with dry mud. As soon as the senior officer took over, Marina mounted Alcarius, urging him to the side of Aurelia. ”What’s going on?” Marina asked, tilting her head to the side, looking over at Aurelia. Aurelia had never been one to interrupt training sessions, unless it was important or she could see that Marina was bored. Lifting her hand, Marina wiped a speck of mud off of her cheek, waiting patiently for an reply.
