A young woman stood on the wall of Hadrian as the sun set slowly in the horizon. Her light blond hair was shone gold as the dying rays of the sun sunk beneath the ground. Isolde held a locket in her hand, a locket her father had given her. Inside was an inscription, though she had yet to read it as the locket was quite old and had not been opened in years. Still, Isolde cherished the token of her father's affections as she on occasion attempted to pry it open.
A gentle breeze caressed her pale blue cloak and dress as her pale green eyes looked out at the horizon. She could feel a change coming, slowly sweeping itself over her body. She shuttered as she knew this change would not be for the best. There was a danger looming, and one she had some control over. She could feel the weight of her mother's letter in her pocket as she stood on the wall, looking out. After being with King Arthur and Queen Guinevere for about a month, Isolde already memorized Arthur's defenses for the wall. Her mother only waited for her reply to set her terrible scheme into motion. One that could destroy Hadrian if she was not careful.
Still, Isolde was not fully prepared to answer her letter. She did feel some loyalty toward King Arthur, perhaps the same amount as she felt for her family. Isolde should have felt more for her blood relatives, but she knew her father would greatly abhor her mother's plans if only he knew. If only he was well enough to control his scheming wife.
Her hair swept across her back in waves of rose gold as the gentle breeze continued. Isolde could hear the shifting of the soldiers, keeping watch on the wall, protecting what they held dearest. In someway, Isolde wished she had something dear in the city. She knew what her mother was doing was wrong, using her children the way that she did, but she had no other reason to disagree with her. But as Isolde began to meet the people in Hadrian, she began to feel sympathy for them. And this sympathy could topple her mother's attempt to help the Saxons.
