Helena was very excited and couldn't sit still. She jumped out of her bed and ran to her closet. She had no clue what she was going to wear today. No one had come in to help her dress yet and she was wondering what was taking them all so long. Didn't they know that today was a special day. Pandra had left after tucking her into bed last night to do something for her parents. She wouldn't be back for some time according to what Mommy had told her before Pandra had put her to bed. Pandra wouldn't have taken so long to get into her room this morning. She huffed and opened her door. Her guards were standing here like good guards were supposed too. They looked at the Princess.
"Princess it is much to early for you to be up and about." "No its not. Hush...." She closed her door on him and went back to her bed. She tossed and turned in her sheets as she jumped back into her bed. About an hour later a maid walked into her room. "Is it time now?" "Princess patience. Let's get you fed first." She groaned and sat down at her little table to eat what the maid had brought in. She finished up her drink and turned to the maid who had been picking out her clothes. "Is it time now?" The maid only smiled at her as she helped her take off her nightgown.
Helena practically threw on her pantaloons and then a little white dress over them. She was going to take her dark blue cloak with her today as it was still chilly outside. She looked at herself in the mirror and nodded content with how she looked. Her hair was still a mess however and she sat down to have it combed but she was rather fidgety. "Hurry...hurry...hurry..." "Be still Princess" Helena huffed and stayed as still as possible for a four year old excited kid. She bolted out of the chair when her hair was finally bushed.
Helena practically ran to the doors of the castle. She stood there looking out waiting for Pandra's new friend to come and get her. It was one of Daddy's new recruits. He'd come in with Pandra and Pandra had asked her mom and dad if he could take her out the first day that she was supposed to be gone. So today was the day and she couldn't wait. Her guards having finally caught up with her stood there at the steps waiting as well. [/center][/blockquote]

The wind blew rather swiftly carrying the man’s hair upon it. Swirls of flurries twist and spin through the air like a dancer twirls and sways. Gharvyd closed his eyes to let the wind wash over him, the brisk and crisp air penetrating the very pores of his skin. He enjoyed the refreshing feeling of a cold fall or winter breeze. It was as if he could feel his soul being cleansed.
Gharvyd was making his way to the gate of the entrance of where the King and his family lived. He was to meet the Princess formally for the first time according to the instructions in the letter he received from Pandra that was left for him at the stables for him to find when he returned from his recent outing to the outlying villages. He hoped he could entertain the young Princess as well as keep her from harm. He had heard the rumors of how difficult she could be and lifted a small prayer for patience should he be tested this day.
Reaching the gate he decided he would wait for Pandra before entering the building. He did not think it was appropriate for him to just enter and request an audience with the Princess, seeing how she was only four, and considering he was still a fresh recruit proving himself worthy of the King’s service. Besides it would give him more time to enjoy the crisp air blowing here and there enveloping him in its rather frigid embrace.
Gharvyd crouched down onto the ground using the wall of the gate to support his back as he pulled out of his pocket what appeared to be a wooden statue of sorts that fit in the palm of his hand. He turned it over, scanning every inch of its surface as if inspecting it. With a grunt of dissatisfaction, he reached into his boot and pulled out a small knife. He began to work at a small blemish in the surface of the wood whittling away bits and pieces of wood. Continuing his inspection of the small statue, every so often he would whittle a piece here and there, feeling the edges ensuring it was smooth. He began to hum absentmindedly, happy that he was working with his hands. He always loved to work with his hands, and whittling was one of his favorite hobbies. Gharvyd took every chance he could get to whittle away on any spare wood he could find. He always imagined what he could make from a piece before setting to work at it. Some pieces were small and simple, others larger and a touch more extravagant. Regardless of the result, he enjoyed creating the small pieces of art, if one could call it that.

The wind blew Helena's hair up as she had her cloak hood down. The young girl wanted to be roaming free like the wind got to do all the time. She closed her eyes letting it wash over her. She was listening to it like her grandpa Merlin had told her too. It wasn't angry but rather it seemed as excited as she was. Of course that could be the young girl's own wishful thinking. She was tired of standing on the steps so she ran off down them spinning around once in the morning breeze giggling. A maid watched her from the top of the steps with a smile as the guards followed her down as did the maid.
Helena made a run for the gates. She wasn't running too fast as she knew that beyond the gates she needed guards with her and that the person she was supposed to meet was the only person they could had her off too. She was wondering what was taking the other so long. Of course it could be the fact that he was getting ready himself and today it seemed like everyone was being slow about it. Helena was being as good as she could be about being patient. She came to a halt at the gate and looked out beyond it. She looked at the lone figure using the gate to rest his back on it. She watched him for a second getting just a little glimpse of chips of wood falling onto the ground. She couldn't hold it in any longer. "Hello," she said brightly before she swung open the gate with some effort and her guards caught it putting it where it needed to be and allowing the Princess to run out. Of course she's giggle if the man feel because he had been using it as a back rest. She had no intent of hurting him just amusing herself.
The young maid that was with her simply shook her head. "You much be Mr. Varick. Pandra does such a good job at describing people sir. She's out on duties for their majesties. So I am to deliver Helena to you." She gave him a small smile and Helena looked up at him. Yup this was the guy that came in with Pandra those weeks ago. She could barely keep still as she rocked herself back and forth from the balls of her feet to her heels. She was ready to play to see the world. "Hello Mr. Gharvyd Varick sir. Thank you so so much for taking me out today." The innocence and pure joy of being out of the castle was shown within her voice.
"My advice friend. Keep a close eye on the young one and don't let her out of your site for a second. Oh and my friend I hope you can run." Helena stuck her tongue out at her guards. She knew full well that this was a privileged for her and she wasn't about to do something silly to get it taken away. Okay so if she became bored she was going to run around like a crazy person but by the looks of the man in front of her she wasn't going to get bored that easily. She took his hand and started to try to drag him away from the gates. She wanted to get away from the guards who were not annoying her with the way they looked at him with pity.
